Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find details about your services and practice policies?
They can be found below:
Therapy Agreement (for those residing in MN)
Consultation Agreement (for those residing outside of MN seeking misophonia support)
What are your rates?
50-Minute Session: $200 for the first session, $175 per session thereafter
You must keep a current credit card on the HIPPA-compliant portal account I create for you. HSA or FSA accounts can be used for therapy sessions.
I have a limited number of sliding scale fee slots for clients for whom paying out-of-pocket would create financial hardship.
Note: Open Path Collective is a great place to search for therapists with open sliding scale fee slots.
Do you take insurance?
I can bill insurance for clients residing in Minnesota who have Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage. Before starting therapy, please contact the number on the back of your insurance card to verify your benefits, including your deductible and any portion of the session fee you may be responsible for.
For all others in MN, I am an out-of-network provider, and "Superbills" can be requested for you to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network benefits.
Insurance cannot be used for Misophonia Consultation (for those outside of MN).
How long does it take to see results?
The timeline for seeing results varies depending on factors such as your current state of wellness, the amount of work you've done previously, your readiness to engage with deeper emotions and beliefs, and your willingness to practice the skills discussed in therapy outside of sessions.
Some clients achieve their goals within six sessions, while others may work with me for several years because they value ongoing support and continue to expand their goals. Most clients fall somewhere in between. My goal is to make our work together as efficient as possible.
For those seeking misophonia consultation (due to residing outside of MN), my preference is to work with you short-term (2-6 sessions) to help clarify the path forward, after which you can continue the work with a local therapist. However, if a longer-term support is preferred and appropriate, I am available to continue working together.
How do we begin?
Start by completing the interest form found here. I will review your information and respond via email to let you know if it’s a good fit. If so, I’ll create a portal account for you, where you can complete the necessary paperwork and choose from available appointment times.
How often will we meet?
We can schedule sessions at a frequency that fits your needs, schedule, and budget. Some clients prefer a regular spot on my calendar (weekly, biweekly, or monthly), while others choose times as they go through the portal. It’s often most effective to start with more frequent sessions (such weekly or every other week) and gradually space them out over time.
Do you have other misophonia providers for me to consider, in particular those who work with kids?
Yes, I do! You can find a list of additional misophonia providers and resources on my book website, demystifyingmisophonia.com. Providers who specialize in working with children can be found here.
How can I find a trauma therapist who is in my network?
I recommend starting your search on psychologytoday.com, where you can filter by insurance type and specialty (e.g., "Trauma and PTSD"). Under "Types of Therapy," select one modality at a time. Consider modalities such as Brainspotting, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and Somatic Therapy. If you’re interested in a specific modality, you can also check the official website for that modality (found through a simple Google search), which often includes a provider list. Keep in mind that providers usually pay to be listed on a site, so they pick and choose where to be listed. GoodTherapy.org is another commonly used search engine.
As an existing client, how do I access my portal?
You can use the link found here.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance via email or by canceling through the portal to avoid being charged. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or if you do not show up for your session, I will split the session fee—absorbing half of the cost myself and billing you for the other half. I greatly appreciate it if you can provide more than 24 hours' notice whenever possible.
